Krisztián Szőke at Iskola: The Mobile as Landscape

Movilfest brought mobile art to Budapest’s most iconic bars, and this time, in the heart of District 5, the city’s most vibrant area, the solo exhibition of Hungarian artist Krisztián Szőke was presented at Iskola. Set within the legendary pub route, where ruin bars have become cultural landmarks redefining space, Szőke’s work explored the mobile phone as an essential part of the landscape when observing beauty.

His artistic vision, rooted in the concept of landscape with a mobile phone, challenged traditional perspectives on space and perception. Through his pieces, Szőke invited the audience to reflect on how mobile devices shape our view of reality, blurring the line between the physical and digital worlds.

The exhibition went beyond static artworks by incorporating interactive tablets with headphones, where visitors experienced experimental mobile movies, a category curated by Movilfest. These digital narratives unfolded within the same space, allowing guests to immerse themselves in a multi-sensory journey where art and technology mergedseamlessly.

Curated by Movilfest, this exhibition blended contemporary art with Budapest’s dynamic nightlife, creating a space where urban culture and digital expression coexisted. In the unique setting of Iskola, mobile devices became both the subject and the medium, redefining how we engage with art and the spaces we inhabit.

Whether as a tool of observation or as an inseparable part of modern landscapes, the mobile phone became a bridge between the real and the virtual. Budapest’s District 5, famous for its eclectic bars and cultural energy, served as the perfect backdrop for this immersive exploration of space, mobility, and beauty.

Those who attended had the opportunity to witness a unique dialogue between art, technology, and movement, set in one of Budapest’s most emblematic nightlife spots.
